This course is designed for VFR pilots that have already completed Cirrus Transition Training in the Avidyne equipped aircraft. Completion of this course is required for those pilots that now want to fly any of the Garmin Perspective equipped aircraft. Instument rated pilots must complete the Advanced Cirrus Perspective Differences Course.
The Cirrus Perspective VFR Differences course is composed of 3 required lessons and 2 optional lessons. The course should take approximately 1 day to complete with 3 hours in the plane for a well prepared pilot to complete the required lessons and an additional half day to complete the optional BFR.
The training program includes instruction on normal and emergency procedures as well as proven standard operating procedures developed by UNDAF and Cirrus Design. Aeronautical decision making and effective risk management will be major emphasis areas, while maintaining the highest level of safety.
Lesson 1: : This ground lesson will be an introduction to the Cirrus Perspective avionics system. It will include a review of pretraining materials and a session on the ground in the aircraft to work on avionics familiarization.
Lesson 2: This flight lesson is an introduction to operating the Cirrus Perspective system. It is a 4-leg cross country in which the Cirrus pilot will implement normal procedures including checklists, enroute procedures, and arrival procedures while managing malfunctions of the avionics and the electrical system.
Lesson 3: This flight lesson is the evaluation flight. The flight is a 2-leg cross country in which the Cirrus pilot will demonstrate the knowledge and skill required to safely fly the Cirrus aircraft equipped with the Cirrus Perspective avionics system in single pilot operations while VFR.
Lesson 4: OPTIONAL. Flight Review.
